marshall dsl40c pedal platform

I have one and it takes pedals perfectly...they made it to take pedals well. I'd also argue that running an amp at the edge of breakup is preferred for a pedal platform. If you're coming from SS and digital amps, then I would just say to use the OD a little differently and to turn up the guitar's volume just a tad bit more for your clean.
